    About the data

Figures are from the Insolvency Service’s official statistics, Individual insolvencies by location, age and gender, England and Wales, 2025, published on 27 March 2026. Rates are the number of people becoming insolvent in each year per 10,000 residents aged 18 and over, using ONS mid-year population estimates. 2025 figures are provisional.

Areas use local authority boundaries as at December 2025. City of London is included in Westminster and the Isles of Scilly in Cornwall because of their small populations. Scotland and Northern Ireland publish their insolvency statistics separately and use different debt solutions, so they aren’t included.
